Appointments now have a graphical interface to select date and time ranges using both the mouse and or keyboard. 2. System messages are now themed based on the window theme that generated the message. These messages now have user scroll bars when the message might be long and not fit on the pop up window. 3. Import / export now can handle the note. Comma delimitted text can not support returns embedded inside the note. On export All Aboard will convert the returns to a vertical bar and on import convert vertical bars to returns. This permits data to be exported from All Aboard to another copy of All Aboard. Encrypted notes are never exported. If you need to export an encrypted note unencrypt the note then export and the re encrypt the note. This will allow the exported copy to be imported but will of course be unencypted.. Import / export was improved to allow you to import duplicate copies. Using this new feature you can import one version of each contact and assign each set of copies to a category. This allows you to use a "Work" category and import the work data fields for address email and phone number, then assign these to the work category. Then repeat the import again and select the Home address and phone numbers then assign those to a Home category with a different color theme. This expansion allows you to have many locations of contact data for the same person. Import / Export has now been tested with Lotus Organizer as well as Microsoft Outlook. Fixes: 1. Import would place the contacts in the incorrect drawer in some newer releases. =========================== Version 1.15 July 14, 2008 =========================== New Features: 1 New multi threading features. Pinning a data record to the desktop like a sticky note has always been an All Aboard feature. The "pin the note" and "pin the image" features now have a new option called "Sync". After you pin an image or note there is a new check box that allows you to sync the pinned record to the browse window that launched it. This means as you scroll the data list the pinned record becomes the currently selected note record in the list box. Using inter process communication the list tells the pinned record to change to the selected record. This happens very quickly. This feature provides a new method for just browsing through all your data. All drawers are supported and images in any drawer and logs are supported. You may still manually pin as many records as you like plus have one designated for Sync. See the new Multi Threading demonstration video to see how easy it is to use some new high powered technology. 2. Better hot key support for more items on more screens. Some hot keys were not properly labeled on the tool tip. Tool tips have been extended with attention to showing the hot keys consistently. Main screen tagging function now have hot keys. Documentation has also been updated for hot key support. Main screen appointment display range selections now supports hot keys Ctrl 1, 2, 3, and 4 for year, month, week and day range diplays. 3. Just a reminder that entry fields that have a look up icon use the same hot key as the entry field. The first hot key press will move to the field and the second press will activate the look up button. This feature is now consistent in all cases. 3. Pinned images now support a smaller minimum re-size option so the Sync function can be used along side smaller screen displays. 4 Calendar control now shows the target month / year in the tool tip. 5. When selecting documents and images the existing preferences for the startup folder have been expanded. While any accessible folder can be used for a linked item the first folder that begins the search now uses some new options. For images a new setting was added called "Images too". when you select the default document directory for a drawer or log the option is also available to make the same folder the default for images. A new global default is now in place when nothing is specified. For documents the default will be "My Documents" and for images "My Pictures". The application folder default is now Program Files on the boot drive. 6. When phone numbers are displayed on the main screen or in a pinned record the standard hot keys are now Ctrl 1 for Phone, Ctrl 2 for Phone 2, and Ctrl 3 for Cell Phone. Fixes: 1. Copy image to clipboard function does work with some JPG formats. The prior releases did not allow JPG files to be copied to clip board. This release allows you to copy them. The hot key "Alt Shift C" is the universal hot key when that image is displayed with the icon. 2. The calendar control for going forward and back one year was in error for Feb 29th. The fixed method goes to Feb 28th when moving from a leap year on Feb 29th forward or back a whole year. When moving backward one month from March 30th the result would be March 2nd instead of the last day in February. Simlarly moving from a month with more days than the target month would yield errors. The fix it to always move to the next or prior month without overshooting or undershooting the month. This usually means defaulting to the last day in the target month for target months of lesser number of days. It was considered less annoying to the user to add this change. A theme error in the configuration screen would occure on spin controls was fixed only in the configuration screen. There was not a problem on other screens. =========================== Version 1.14 June 22, 2008 =========================== New Features: 1 The internal email client (registered versions only) now supports a log on and password for SMTP servers that require them. Leave the user name blank if your server does not require a log on. Using a log on and password when the server does not require them will cause a communications failure. If you fail to supply a log on and password when required this specific problem is detected. When in doubt try it without first. Adding the user name in the configuration settings will remember the log on but you must supply the password for the first email in the session. The password is not saved to disk when you close All Aboard. 2. The alphabetic locator at the top of the main browse now reverses the foreground and background of the selected tab for easier viewing. Note the letters of the tabs are actually hot keys for each tab All versions). For example, pressing the letter B will find the first data record that starts with B or after B if no records exist for the letter B. Fixes 1. Several cosmetic theme errors were fixed. 2. Several entry fields lacked pop up cut and paste menus. 3. Several performance enhancements were made when using themes. =========================== Version 1.13 June 5, 2008 =========================== New Features: 1. File, folder, image and document look up selections now default to the current folder if a value is already defined. This lets you reselect closer to where the original selection was made. If there is no existing value then the standard default behavior is used. Fixes / Changes 1. Prior versions allowed you to see the window being resized as you dragged the corners or moved the window. This ability has bugs that lie within the Windows environment. Removing this feature makes the resizes smoother and eliminates most all the flickering. The loss of seeing it resize was a penalty for getting greater stability. Once the splitter bar was corrupted you had to shutdown and restart All Aboard. We felt that problem was more important to fix even with a loss of a feature. Dynamic visual resizing may be added back as a feature when Microsoft addresses this issue. =========================== Version 1.12 May 13,2008 =========================== New Features Minimizing the main window to the task bar was blocked. It is now possible to close the window to the systray using the minimize control. Some operating systems may allow minimizing to the systray. This operation was block because it was a problem with the horizontal splitter becoming corrupted. Both the problem and the workaround are no longer required. Fixes 1. The main screen horizontal splitter could be come corrupt and require exiting and restarting the program. Window resizing is slightly changed such that resizing the window will not alter the splitter bar position unless it would result in the note becoming smaller than a few lines of text. At that point the splitter bar will move to preserve the text window being visible. In general it is best to re size first then adjust the plotter to the desired location. This same change effects the main log browse window too. =========================== Version 1.11 May 10,2008 =========================== New Features 1. The image display now contains a copy button to copy the current image to the clipboard for pasting into any application that can accept a pasted image. 2. Timers on blank notes and data records pinned to the desktop now support more timer options. Clicking the time with the left mouse key will pop up the Timer options window that include. a. Cancel any active timer or cancel the ability to set a timer. b. Count elapsed time in hours, minutes, and seconds. c. Count down from a set number of hours, minutes, and seconds. d. Count down to a specific time. Active timers update every second and are displayed as a bold underlined font. Time spans are limited to 24 hours. When the alarm has reached the set time or 24 hours. The default sound is played (if defined) and the window is brought forward even if minimized. For spans more than 24 hours the calendar system supports dates and times with more options and events. You may have as many notes with alarms are required. 3. New Tag icons. Tag list and update form now fully support themes. Tag marking and display was also enhanced. Tag list windows enhanced and several bugs fixed related to saving tag lists. 4. Right mouse clicks on a tab control now displays a pop up menu of the possible choices selectable with the mouse. 5 Changes in theme support. Theme wallpapers and icons are now copied to the theme directory for better USB drive support. Export and import now normalize elements previously store in other directories. You now have the ability to download themes with an installation program. =========================== Version 1.10 April 21, 2008 =========================== This is the first Minor release update. This release is suggested for all users. Consitency have been added in many areas of the system. relative to coloring. Users will see some changes to the screens with few functional changes. Some minor bug fixes were added as well some enhancements. The primary thrust of the release was to better support theme creation and theme exchange. New Features 1. A major theme enhancement was added. The old Transparent Title option is now removed. In it's place Many background colors may now be set to transparent. A significant amount of work went into supporting Alternate text colors other than the very dark colors. Alternate text is now applied more completely and themes now extend into all parts of the system. It is now possible to use very dark backgrounds with light colors for text. This makes almost every color user definable. A new color picker was released to make use of transparent backgrounds colors possible and to provide a context to see the multiple colors in place with help displayed on the same screen. Watch for soon to be released down-loadable themes as well as a special theme video! Currently Alpha transparency is not a feature. We hope to be able to add it in a future release. Green bar effect colors were only one setting for all. Green bar effect alternates the background colors used in browse list rows to provide a more readable display. The green bar colors are used only on the help browse, the log browse from the main menu, and the log browse on the note update form. The default values are gray and lighter gray. For the best results make the two colors very close to each other. Notes that have no category assigned were assigned uncategorized colors from a global default value. Each drawer may now have it's own default categorized colors to make the uncategorized note colors compatible with the drawer theme. Notes themselves can now be set as transparent thus showing the wallpaper behind the text. A new color in the calendar has been made user defined. The prior releases defined the current calendar date as color red on the calendar. This is now user defined and defaults to black. You may desire to change this color though depending on the theme chosen black may be the color desired. The calendar theme is now applied to the calendar date picker user in all data prompts. Prior releases let you change only the theme for the main screen appointments. The new picker supports all the theme options of the main screen picker. 2. Some minor changes to icons that may become hard to see on dark backgrounds were made. Note that very dark backgrounds require light colored text to be readable. The default theme options for Icon, Wallpaper, and colors allow you to return to the same default state as you experienced after installation. Deleting the AllAbaord.xml settings file will also revert the system back to all default settings as well. 3. The Notes tab now has a text import button (Alt I) that will insert the text from a text file into the note. Inserting text is limited to the first 6,000 characters of data. You will need to add scroll bars after the inserting if the text can not be fully displayed. Changes 1. Click headers have been supported since the first release. The display of the up and down arrows have been replaced with a + and - symbol as well as numbers 1, 2, 3, ... for each level of sort. Add a secondary sort by using control key with left mouse button click on the subsequent column. When sorting by date the second sort field of time is automatically added as a second sort field. By default browse windows open sorted ascending and display no click header symbols. 2. Themes support now includes using the All Aboard Themes directory for saving your wallpapers, icons, and alarm sound. This will provide support for installable themes. You can soon download themes from the web site at no cost, install the themes, then load them as you choose. making and saving your own themes will also keep all this data in one place and support installation to a USB flash drive. Data from prior versions will still operate as before. If you reselect the wallpaper, icon, or sound file again it will be moved to the themes directory for you and reconnected with the new path. Path names have always been stored as relative path names to the AllAbaord.EXE file to permit installation to a USB flash drive that may not always have the same drive letter. 3. Import and export formats have been changed in version 1.10. This change adds a version number so supporting any future changes can be supported easier. If you are handy with a text editor and XML data format the conversion of an old theme is straight forward. We apologize for any inconvenience. 4. The global setting called "lazy display" is no longer optional and so has been removed. Fixes 1. Loading a saved theme no longer changes the Drawer name and icon. Only colors and wallpapers are saved as theme options when exporting and importing themes. Fonts, icons and drawer titles remain as set but may be changed after importing. 2. Numersous items did not use the Alternate text color when applied in the Options and settings screen. These errors are only apparent when using a significantly different text color from Black. 3. The display of unused tabs when sticking a data record to the desktop would often display tabs of data that were empty. Now tabs are hidden when the tab would be blank and if there is only one tab thus not requiring a second tab. Colors for the address block are not consistent with the main window using the same colors as selected for notes. 4. Screen flickering on opening the Settings and options window is almost eliminated. Slight flickering still occurs between drawer option selection. This is a side effect of seeing the changes as you make them. 5. Unencrypting a note and deleting all the text and saving made a note that was blank and encrypted and could not be removed without deletion of the record. Unencrypting a blank note does not require a password in this release. 6. Unlocking an encrypted note would corrupt the key if you manually selected the lock button after unlocking. If you changed the note and did not manually re lock the note it was properly relocked automatically. This automatic behavior remains true. The past releases attempted to remember the key from the first unlock but would not properly apply the remembered key with manual re lock. In this release attempting to manually re lock the note will prompt for a new password. This will let you change the password (not formerly a feature). If a note is changed after unlocking and you don't manually re lock the data the note will be properly relocked with the original password. Corrupted notes may not be recovered. Passwords may not be recovered. =========================== Version 1.04 April 21, 2008 =========================== MAJOR CHANGE FOR VISTA USERS The ProgramData directory was not a proper location for All Aboard data files. Installing this version will move the data to a proper directory for you without losing data you already have. You will see a message when you start the new version indicating the CDT was moved. You may then delete the \ProgramData\ODStrategies\AllAboard directory yourself if you log in as an Administrator. This means that your All Abaord data will now be in your users directory. This path can be seen using the Help screen then selecting "System properties" icon and looking at "All Aboard Data:". This change is also being made for Windows XP users as well but you may delete the ProgramData directory without being logged in as an Administrator. Major fixes 1. A problem could result from adding a new log directly from the main menu and then not be able to update that record without shutting All Abaord down. The mechanism needed to track multiple open windows could lose track that the record was closed and not still open from the add. This was a pretty rare problem. 2. Launching two copies of All Aboard can cause data corruption. The check done at start up now includes a message that displays before it shuts down the second copy. The previous versions did not display a message but did shut down the second copy. New features 1. Adding repeat dates now supports a new user suggested option. If you enter a date and want to repeat the same day of the month there is a new option called "This day of the month". If you enter the 2nd of May you could choose to repeat the second of the month as you could for the 1st, 15th and last. You are on your own if you repeat the 31st of the month since months that have no 31st day will not repeat in those months at all. This now expands the possible methods of repeating that should cover about all the things I can think of. I had thought of adding some of the more complex religious holidays but they present huge problems covering all the religions and then all the variations of the calendar. If people would like to make lists of these dates I could have an import option that would load a list of dates that users could get from the web site. Drawers.pdf and drawers.xps are also updated. The issue of user generated suggestions brings up the important issue. If you have ideas for All Aboard. No new features were added. =========================== Version 1.01RC April 2008 =========================== 1. This is a release candidate meaning it has been heavily tested but the details of various computers may mean adjustments to the install and registration system may be required. All users can upgrade without cost to the gold release. 2. Report any installation problems with as much detail as you can recall. The installation system has the least amount of testing. 3. Always check the release notes with every new version to see what is fixed or changed. Known Issues 1. The Options settings all work. A slow machine may experience a great deal of flickering. This is due to the real time changing of the screen to reflect the changes. Send an email if you find problems using the screen options or the documentation. There are a lot of settings to play with.
